Design draftperson

Function

The design draftsperson creates drawings and designs for mechanically welded manufacturing based on customer requests and specifications. They also participate in the various stages of project management with the help of the project manager.

Main responsibilities

•  Produce shop and project drawings
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers on project planning and execution
• Estimate the cost of projects and bids, and adjust if necessary
• Create designs and 3D models in SolidWorks
• Contribute to good communication between the workshop and the offices
• Check the list of materials required to carry out projects
• Identify problematic situations involving the projects and make sure they are resolved
• Participate in manufacturing methods and project start-up meetings when necessary

Job requirements

• Diploma of Vocational Studies in drafting or Diploma of College Studies in mechanical engineering
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• 5+ years of experience
• Experience in the mechanically welded manufacturing sector
• Capacity for logic and analysis
• Communication and teamwork skills
